Release Note | VELO 2025

VELO 2025 SUMMER UPDATE

We’re rolling out one of the most significant VELO updates to date. With a wave of new features across Scan&Paint 2D, Scan&Paint 3D, and other core applications, this release brings more power, more precision, and more flexibility to acoustic testing. From smarter data review and live filtering to direct simulation export and advanced absorption mapping, every part of VELO has been built with one goal: helping engineers move faster, test more accurately, and push the limits of what’s possible with acoustic measurements.

Filters Across All Applications

With the new live filtering engine built into VELO, you can apply and combine multiple filters while playing back audio data. Combine a set of high-pass, low-pass, band-eliminated, or band-pass filters to configure any spectral discrimination filter that you need. Whether isolating a frequency band or cutting out unwanted background noise, the filtering is immediate, intuitive, and consistent across all VELO major applications.

2D Absorption Mapping Now Built Into Scan&Paint 2D

The new absorption mapping feature in Scan&Paint 2D allows you to create detailed 2D colormaps of sound absorption across any surface. If you're already using Scan&Paint 2D together with in-situ absorption hardware, you can now run both measurements in the same environment. No need to switch between tools or merge results manually. Just define your area, run the measurement, and get a clear spatial view of how absorption varies. It's a more efficient way to work and it brings deeper insight with less effort.

Transmission Loss Module in Scan&Paint 2D

This feature allows you to determine how much sound passes through a material, helping you assess the blocking performance of panels, barriers, and other structures. With spatial mapping included, you can now visualize variations in transmission loss across a surface with precision. It’s a powerful addition for engineers working on acoustic insulation, material characterization, or enclosure design.

Export Your Measurements Directly to ACTRAN

With this release, Scan&Paint 3D now includes native support for exporting measurement data directly to ACTRAN. This feature is a key step toward enabling hybrid acoustic modeling workflows, where real-world sound intensity measurements are merged with numerical simulations. No more manual conversions or workaround steps. Just capture your data, export, and continue your analysis in ACTRAN with full spatial and frequency resolution preserved. It’s a faster, more integrated path from measurement to simulation.

Review and Refine Captures in Scan&Paint 3D

We’ve added a powerful new tool that gives you full control over your acoustic data review process. With the Capture Viewer, you can go through each individual measurement in your scan, listen to the recorded signal, apply filters, and mark exclusion events, like a bump to the probe or unexpected background noise, to keep them out of your 3D spatial maps. You can also analyze the raw signal behind each point, helping you understand the context of what was measured and ensure only clean, reliable data makes it through to the final result. It’s designed to give you clarity, flexibility, and confidence in every scan.

Measuring 3D Phase Mapping in Scan&Paint 3D

Scan&Paint 3D now supports capturing phase mapping when a reference signal is recorded alongside the acoustic vector data. This allows you to calculate and visualize the true phase difference between the probe and the reference sensor, revealing local phase behavior that can help identify complex source interactions or improve simulation accuracy. It's especially powerful when used in combination with the new ACTRAN export.

In-Situ Absorption Joins the 64-Bit VELO Platform

The in-situ absorption module will officially be part of the latest VELO 64-bit platform on the 3rd of July. Along with a complete UI redesign, the update brings a more intuitive workflow, better performance, and extended hardware support, including full integration with Voyager. This application allows you to characterize acoustic materials directly on-site, without needing special facilities or lab environments. It's now faster, clearer, and ready for more flexible test setups.
