Release Note | Voyager 2.3

Firmware Voyager 2.3

This version includes new features such as Sound Intensity calculations and a new (optional) Sound Quality module enabling loudness, sharpness & roughness.

What’s NEW

  • Sound intensity calculation for P-Ux , P-Uy and P-Uz. The results of the intensity are available in the Spectrum, Octaves, and Spectrogram tab.
  • A new module of Sound Quality was introduced: Loudness, Sharpness and Roughness are displayed in frequency and time domain. Dedicated settings and tools are included in this new tab. This new module is only available as an optional firmware license
  • An Auto-Range button was introduced in the Time and Frequency plots of the Listening & Analysis Tab
  • Snapshot interface menu was upgraded. Now the user can select the channel of interest. Exporting and Reset options are also included in the Snapshot new interface
  • The left sidebar is now scrollable
  • In the spectrogram graph color scale, the name of the visible channel appears in the middle of the bar

Bug Fixes

  • For recordings longer than 1 hour, playback may encounter issues. This issue is now resolved

Sound Quality module

Human beings are not 100% reliable sources when it comes to sound quantification. Our daily mood, psychological conditions, and physical status can strongly bias our judgment. The Voyager Sound Quality module calculates key psychoacoustic parameters, such as Loudness, Sharpness, and Roughness, that translate human sensations into a numerical form. The module produces an objective quantification sound accounting for human stimuli, delivering product quality results that are repeatable and reliable.

Sound Intensity calculations

Sound intensity is the measure of the flow of acoustic energy in a sound field. Sound intensity measurements make it possible to determine sources' sound power without using costly special facilities such as anechoic and reverberation rooms. Sound intensity measurements are now routinely used to determine machinery's sound power and other noise sources in situ. Other critical applications of sound intensity include:

  • The identification and rank ordering of partial noise sources
  • Visualization of sound fields
  • Determination of the radiation efficiencies of vibrating surfaces
  • Determination of the transmission losses of partitions
