Near Field Acoustic Camera
The Microflown PU-based Near Field Acoustic Camera is a very fast and accurate system for sound source localization. As the name states the system is developed for measurements in the acoustic near field. Any sound field is described by two complementary acoustic properties, the scalar value 'sound pressure' and the vector value 'particle velocity'. In the acoustic near field, acoustic particle velocity is the dominant acoustic property. The Microflown is the only sensor capable of physically measuring the particle velocity directly. The PU probe methodology only needs one single measurement point to be taken in order to determine both acoustic properties at a certain position. Using the directionality of the Microflown sensor it is no longer needed to create anechoic conditions. Due to the simplicity of the system (robust algorithm) and because all quantities are measured, the system can measure at full bandwidth with high dynamic range and high spatial resolution. Complicated and inaccurate numerical reconstructions are no longer needed. The software is used to visualize the (transient) sound field properties such as pressure, velocity, sound intensity and all in real time. In addition individual FFT and 1/3rd octave spectra are displayed. Diverse application fields, from product developent to end of line control or laptops to powertrain, the Near Field Acoustic Camera makes your acoustics visible.
