Scan & Listen

User benefits

    • Easy finding of modes / vibration pattern determination
    • Easy finding of sources ( also instationary sources like "Squeak & Rattle" )
    • Direct listening to sound pressure and particle velocity
    • Easy and quick to use
    • Portable

Scan and Listen is a tool that’s been developed for first and quick indication. This without the need of complicated
and expensive measurement tools like LaserVibrometers or Acoustic Holography systems. The Scan & Listen device is used to make the PU Microflown signals easily audible. This is very useful for fast trouble shooting and e.g. mode finding, machine monitoring. The sound pressure or the particle velocity is equalized, amplified with adjustable gain and put on the headphone output.  This just with a small and portable device. The Scan & Listen device is powered with a 9V battery or 12V-18VDC power supply. The gain potentiometer is also used to switch on the device. When you listen with sound pressure it is almost impossible to just scan and listen an object for hotspot finding or quick modes finding. Big benifit is that also instationary sources like squeak & rattle easily can be found wich is impossible with standard traditonal FFT analyasis!
This is caused due to the omnidirectionality of sound pressure. In anechoic rooms you can reduce this effect but there
is an other problem still excist than and that is reflection. Radiation of the object wil be reflected the object itself and this you will also be measured. With a Microflown you can listen to the directional quantity acoustic particle velocity. Due to its directionality you can just scan an object with the probe, in manufacturing environment, and simply listen to signal. With just listening you can easily find acoustic hot spots on an object, discover modes or do end of line control of your products.
